Commercial accounts can't afford downtime, and they can't afford a technician with a learning curve on chillers and boilers. My Trade Talent specializes in finding senior-level service technicians for commercial work.
A Narrow Talent Pool
A commercial HVAC service company in Tacoma, serving clients across the Puget Sound region, needed to add to its service technician bench. The top tier of the role called for seven-plus years of exclusively commercial HVAC experience on boilers, chillers, cooling towers, VRF systems and units over 100 tons. Senior technicians with that depth on large-tonnage and hydronic equipment are hard to find.
Not Settling for a Lower-Tier Fit
We made first contact with this candidate in mid-to-late August. The client was holding out for someone who could step straight into the senior tier rather than settle, so this search ran longer than our usual four-week benchmark, about six weeks from first contact to start.
Twenty Years of Experience, Ready on Day One
The new technician brings roughly twenty years of HVAC experience, sixteen of them as a senior technician specializing in large commercial and water-source hydronic systems, plus journeyman work on accounts that included Washington State ferries and casino properties. They hold an associate's degree in occupational studies from a technical college. They started on October 1, 2026, giving the client a technician who can work independently on complex commercial equipment from the first day.
