)}
THE STATE OF COMMERCIAL CLEANING HIRING

The pandemic hygiene bump never fully receded — and the supervisor tier is where firms are losing.

Front-line cleaning labor remains constrained but manageable. The real bottleneck is a full generation of experienced site managers, account managers, and facilities managers — the people who actually keep contracts profitable and clients renewing.

The industry that got the biggest COVID tailwind still hasn't rebuilt its bench.

Commercial cleaning firms rode a demand surge from 2020 through 2023 that permanently reset client expectations for building hygiene. Healthcare, education, and Class A office all continue to spend at levels well above pre-pandemic baselines. That is the good news.

The bad news: the supervisor tier that grew during the surge — team leads, site managers, account managers — is thinner than the demand needs. Many of those people were promoted quickly and left for adjacent industries. The firms winning renewals in 2026 are the ones with CIMS-certified account managers and BOMI or FMP-credentialed facilities managers who can actually run a portfolio. Those people are impossible to find on a job board.

Every hire from zero is a tax on your team.

Every week a seat sits open, the rest of your people are covering for it. Every contingency fee you pay is money that didn't go toward growth. There's a better model. Let's build your pipeline.
