Commercial Pest Control licensing in Utah.

Utah issues Commercial, Non-Commercial and Private pesticide applicator licenses, and a commercial applicator must be affiliated with a business that holds a Commercial Pesticide Business License. Category 7 is Structural and Health-Related, covering applications in, on or around food handling establishments, human dwellings and institutions, while Category 15 is Wood-Destroying Organisms and Category 13 covers fumigation of stored commodities. Licensing requires passing the general or core exam plus the category exam at 70 percent, and the license runs for three years with continuing education required in pesticide law, safety and use. There is no general structural technician tier in Utah, so each applicator working for hire needs their own license. Governed by the Utah Pesticide Control Act, Utah Code 4-14 and Utah Admin. Code R68-7. The same state rules apply in Salt Lake City and Provo, so candidates licensed there can work in Ogden without re-qualifying.

Licensing authority: Utah Department of Agriculture and Food, Pesticide Program. Confirm current rules with the agency.
