Commercial Pest Control licensing in Oklahoma.
Oklahoma licenses each business location as a commercial applicator per category, with a certified applicator assigned to each location, and allows other staff to hold a Service Technician license. Category 7a is General Pest Control, covering applications within and immediately adjacent to a structure, 7b is Structural Pest Control, covering termites and other wood destroying organisms including wood borers and fungus, and 7c is Fumigation. Certification requires passing general and category written exams at 70 percent plus a hands-on practical exam at the Oklahoma State University facility for the structural, general pest, fumigation and food processing categories. Service technicians pass a written exam only, their license runs five years and ends when employment ends, and direct supervision means the certified applicator is accessible by phone or radio at all times. Governed by Title 2 O.S. Article 3 and OAC 35:30-17. The same state rules apply in Oklahoma City, so candidates licensed there can work in Tulsa without re-qualifying.
Licensing authority: Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Consumer Protection Services. Confirm current rules with the agency.
